Apple computers and Ecology

Posted on Apr 4th, 2007 by Jean-Paul : Vegan Filmmaker Jean-Paul
Dear friend, following the article bellow: http://www.greenmyapple.org/ I just wrote to Steve Jobs, CEO of Apple to encourage to modify his policy regarding environment. I invite you to do the same. Lovexxx Jean-Paul Steve Jobs Apple 1, infinite Loop Cupertino, CA 95014 Montreal, April 3rd 2007 Dear Mr Jobs, My guess is that the person who is reading this letter is probably not Steve Jobs… I hope you will have the good sense to forward this information as appropriate. I’m considered a Mac addict and made a lot of friends and family members change their computer from PC to Mac. I’m also about to change my computer to a Macbook Pro, and I can’t wait to order my iPhone. I read today an article in the French news about Apple and Ecology. Here is the web link (sorry, the article is in French) : http://www.tf1.fr/infos/high-tech/0,,3424256,00-apple-pomme-toxiquey-.html You cannot imagine how I felt when I read this. I really trusted Apple as a modern, eco-friendly company, ahead of its competitors. Having read the article mentioned above, and as an environmentalist, I feel betrayed, I feel sad because I may have made a mistake. I want you to know that, to me, Ecology is much more important than computers and I will certainly stop buying any new Apple products if an environment policy is not adopted by your company. That will be difficult for me because I love Mac and hate PCs but I’m ready to jump back to PC if a PC company takes better care of the environment, which is the case of Lenovo. Note that they’re were the list environmentaly friendly company last year and jumped up to first place this year which gives me hope for your improvement. You may not care about one customer loss, but trust me, it won’t be just one customer only because each day, more and more people get involved with Ecology issues and these people will soon buy according to their values. Ignoring sustainable technology will make you loose the game in the long run. Please, do something. Help us preserve our planet. The one we’re going to leave for future generations… Kind regards,
