About Me:
Jean-Paul was born on the French Riviera and spent his childhood getting sunburned on the beach. Close enough to Cannes to develop a passion for the movie industry he dreams to become an actor and a director after seeing E.T. and being almost run over by Robert de Niro’s car. To accomplish his dream, he dives in and attends… medical school! Defeated after the first year, he pursues his goal to ‘make it’ in the film industry and joins the University of Economics and Political Sciences. Defeated again! He finally comes out of the film closet to live his passion in broad daylight. He leaves the south of France for Belgium’s more stimulating climate. His first attempt is a success as he finds warmth on the set of ‘Pieces d’identités’ (Pieces of ID), an African film winner of the Etalon d’Or at the Ouagadougou Film Festival, soon followed by No Man’s Land, Academy Award Winner in 2001 for Best Foreign Film. Other projects follow one another during five years as Assistant Director. In parallel, Jean-Paul is introduced to New Age techniques. He studies various alternative therapies: Reiki, rebirth, homeopathy, psychotherapies, color therapy… He soon ends up taking care of the little pains and hurts of the cast and crew on the set. He become Reiki Master and teaches Reiki for two years. In-between projects, he takes a well-deserved vacation break and tours around Quebec. He falls in love with the Province and decides to emigrate the moment he gets home. He lands back in Montreal on January 18th 2002. Since then, he has worked on various short and feature productions. He also became vegan. Following his dream to become an actor, he met John Strasberg and has been following his classes for two years in New York, Paris and Montreal. J-P is currently vice-president of The Intentional Dreams Productions, a new theatre and movie company based in Montreal on John Strasberg’s Organic Creative Process. J-P combines his acting with his assistant director carreer.
